Born in the USA, Francesca Roasenda grew up in Milano and has always harboured a keen interest in art and design. She belongs to the Piaggio family, who are among the most innovative Italian entrepreneurs, who also fostered her inclination. She was inspired by her family’s accomplishments and creativity, as she observed the metamorphosis of the Vespa through time; a design that is still renowned worldwide.
Her university studies as a Philosophy major and her growing interest in gems and jewel design, inspired her to pursue her passion and to graduate from IGI, the Italian Gemmological Institute. She continued her education at the Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana, studying various jewellery-making techniques, especially wax modelling and the application of baked enamels. Francesca then put her studies into practice and began working for a historic jewellery brand, in Milan and in London, until she decided to create and develop her own brand of artistic jewels, combining classic lines, innovation and design.
Her creations show her strong interest in materials, especially bronze and silver, in semi-precious stones from all over the world, and in the technique of investment casting, all of which have inspired Francesca to craft her most successful creations. In her works the artist seeks to shape materials and stones. Her aspiration is to create unique jewels, not just works of art, but wearable sculptures.
